人類文明離不開「虛構」。小如童話故事、觀星、角色扮演，大如神祇、貨幣、國族等集體敘事，凝聚社會契約的協作，都靠「虛構」的運作才能完成。在數位科技漸趨脫繮的當下，「虛構」之發揮場域絕不該僅限於科幻小說、奇幻文學或VRMR等虛實混合；正視「虛構」應被視為一份承諾，一個由人類向世界而許的誓言。 誓言，The Pledge，在法語中是”L’Engagement”，表示長期而積極的努力。於我們而言「虛構」即是這樣一個需要不斷踐行的誓言。它將在藝術、科技等介質中不斷被覆述，而迴盪的誓言亦將觸及萬物靈性，遠及山河的互相雕琢， 近至人類的情感與信仰。 我們藉由本次展覽向大家發出邀請，共同踐行「虛構」之誓——在演算法中觸碰自然系統內部之美，以感性為媒重塑虛擬實境；論及包含人工智慧、人工生命在內的萬物生靈，想像一個充斥可能性的未來——這便是我们對於更美好世界的承諾與期待。

Human civilization is inextricably linked to the realm of ‘Fabrication’. From seemingly trivial elements – fairy tales, stargazing, role-playing – to grand collective narratives, such as deities, currency, and nationhood, it’s the operation of ‘Fabrication’ that binds together our social contract. In an era where digital technology is progressively unfettered, the domain of ‘Fabrication’ should not be confined merely to science fiction, fantasy literature, or hybrid realities, like VR/MR. Instead, ‘Fabrication’ should be acknowledged as a Pledge – a vow made by humanity to the world. This Pledge, or ‘L’Engagement’ in French, signifies a long-term and proactive endeavor . To us, ‘Fabrication’ is indeed such a vow that needs constant fulfillment. It will continuously be retold in various mediums such as art and technology, and this resonating vow will reach the spirit of all things, ranging from the mutual sculpting of mountains and rivers to human emotions and faith. Through this exhibition, we extend an invitation to you to jointly fulfill this vow of the ‘Fabrication’. To touch upon the inner beauty of natural systems within algorithms, to reshape virtual reality through sensibility; to discuss all living creatures, including artificial intelligence and artificial life, to envision a future full of possibilities – this is our pledge and expectation for a better world.
